Which laptop should i buy?

I will generally be using either laptop for college as a computer engineer so i need to balance programming and decent battery life.

I would go for HP pavilion, 1 inch bigger display, and dedicated graphics card gtx1050ti even if is an older gen, 7700HQ is still very competent, and Asus i saw has only an SSD of 512GB and the HP pavilion have a 1 tb normal HDD and an 120gb SSD.

From what I've seen both laptops have the same average battery life(which is around 8 hours for web browsing, videos, etc) so I assume the HP would probably be the better choice in terms of specs. Although im doubting if its better to have a 512GB SSD over 1TB HDD and only a 128GB SSD.
