Hello everyone,

I'm looking into buying a macbook because i don't really use my laptop for anything else than school, watching movies, photoshop, premier pro and things like that.

Currently I don't really have a really high budget, no more than €1200 sadly.
I've been looking at these 2 models but I don't know if these are the best ones to get within my price range and which one of those 2 is better.

1. MacBook Pro 13"
Intel Core i7 2.9Ghz
8GB Ram
Intel HD 1024MB GPU
256GB SSD
Traditional LCD Display

2. MacBook Pro 13" RETINA
Intel Core i5 2.7Ghz
16 GB Ram
Intel IRIS 5100 1.5GB GPU
128GB SSD
RETINA Display

I'm not sure if there is much difference between the RETINA and the LCD display for video editing and if there is much different between the Intel IRIS and Intel HD graphics cards.
If someone could help me out with this that would be highly appreciated.

Thank you,
Arthur

2 is better. Just keep in mind you are getting lower specs for the price with macs and with laptops. They will do ok for lower end video editing but you can't expect much from low end laptop hardware.

RETINA is just Apple speak for higher resolution. If I remember correctly, it was about 2560 x 1800. The LCD will just be a little smaller than that. The difference between the IRIS and the HD graphics is the generation. IRIS is on the newer CPUs, whereas HD is on the slightly older CPUs. Both are iGPUs, integrated graphics, and will not perform the same as a dedicated GPU that you could find in the 15" models or in desktop PCs. Overall, I would recommend the #2 option since it will be newer and has more RAM and an overall better system. The space on the SSD can easily be fixed with hooking up an external hard drive when you need that extra space.

Thank you so much for your reply, do you think one of those GPUs will be sufficient for video editing in premier pro CC?

Iris is higher end graphics while HD more basic.. Intel still makes both even on 7th gen CPUs.
