I'm considering the purchase of new laptop computer and the one I'm looking at has all the features I want (17" screen, blu-ray playback, 320 Gb 5400 rpm HD, etc) at a price I'm good with BUT the processor is an Intel Core2 Duo T5800 (2.0 GHz). I had been hoping to find a laptop with all the features this one had for the same price but with a P8400 (2.26 GHz) processor but the price starts to push up steeply with that processor. I guess the my question is will I notice a performance hit if I go with the T5800, or is it worth waiting for prices to drop a bit to get a P8400.
My understanding of the differences between the two, aside from the .26 GHz speed difference, is the T5800 has a 2 mb L2 cache and 800 mhz FSB while the P8400 has a 3 mb L2 cache and 1066 FSB. There may be some other differences; I'm not sure.
Thanks for all input.
