Like cryogenic said, this is all avoided by the main deflector. Sheesh, c'mon, this is Basic Warp Theory 101 kind of stuff!
 
I believe the Deflector dish was only for sublight travel. The wrap bubble in Star Trek would naturally create a bubble that routes particles around the enclosed vehicle. Maybe I have not read enough of the Trek literature though, I am not an Uber-Trekkie.

It generates a worm hole through space in theory.
 
The "current science" scientists who deploy sarcasm to anything that tries to go beyond whatever is considered feasible nowadays, shall study a bit of history, and see how many times "current and accepted science" has been totally destroyed by new development and theories. Signed, a PhD with enough knowledge and humbleness to avoid these comments.
