why do full images of ghosts show up on camera if the light is what is making us believe it is there

If the light glare is making us think we see shadows of ghosts, vampires, goda, etc, then how are there full, clear images of something that wasn't there when the picture was first taken

Solution
Could simply be a smudge or reflection on the lens. I have an old digital camera (circa 2003) that would produce weird after-effects/images under certain conditions. Made for interesting conversation a time or two.

Double exposure or something that happened while processing the film? If shot on film there could be several technical explanations, but if the pictures were taken with a digital camera I wouldn't know what could be the cause of this. Are there even pictures of 'ghosts' that have been taken with a digital camera?

Could also be some creative photoshopping at work. I don't know. :)
