Why only CBS NBC & FOX HDs?

In this area of Florida, Comcast (along with a full compliment of local
analog stations) offers only CBS-HD, NBC-HD and FOX-WS (of the local
network affiliates). These all come from Orlando, 65 miles away. The
ABC affiliate (WFTV) and the PBS station (WMFE), as well as a WB
station (WKCF) and UPN station (WRBQ), also broadcast HD over the air
now in Orlando. Why does Comcast choose not to carry these other
network HD stations through the cable? Is it bandwidth limitations?
Does the fact that ABC is 720p format have anything to do with it?
(PBS is 1080i also, not sure about WB & UPN) How's that compare on
Comcast HD in your neck of the woods? Rich...

Stations sell their transmissions to cable companies. It is most likely that
Comcast has not come to terms with the other stations.

Every cable company has their own priorities on what high def channels
they offer. It's hard to say if they use market analysis or just go by
the most active requests. Local sports is a popular driving force.

Bandwidth does come into play.

The additional signal tranmissions does need to be contracted and fiber
feeds setup.

Chances are sooner or later you'll get most of your locals in HD.

as far as abc goes, it's because cox is a bunch of cunts (and comcast is,
too, but not quite as smelly)
