Why wont my 3tb WD passport read on my samsung 24" smart tv

I have 502 movies that was just moved from my hp laptop onto my WD 3tb passport portable drive tried playing it thru my laptop works fine when trying thru my Samsung 24" smart tv it is'nt reading need help?

look at the manual for the tv? the tv might only support certain disk format/size.

once file system is worked out, also note that the tv likely won't play every type of video file. manual will also let you know which files it can play and which it can't. so you may find that not every file is usable through the tv.

Besides the filesystem and format issues, many TV's will require a hard drive that receives its power externally. The TV's often don't provide enough power on the usb port for anything except usb flash drives. Your TV manual should contain information on all these.
