Wifi adapter backdoor

I bought a wifi card for my laptop from outside the U.S. Can a wifi adapter have a back door exploit? Some way of me not knowing it is pilfering my data?

Why worry about wifi adapters when microsoft is sending who knows what back in their so called telemetry data. They will never admit anything until something very bad happens like facebook etc.

There are only 2-3 wireless chipset manufactures no matter what companies names is on the outside of the device. Kinda like you only see cpu fro intel or amd.

You should be able to load device drivers from the chipset manufacture site. You need no other software loaded other than the device driver

Install a good third-party software firewall if you haven't already, it will monitor traffic in both directions.
