Wifi not present in Asus EEE PC 1015 CX?

I've been trying to install the wifi driver on my Asus EEE PC 1015 CX. Wherever I look,they say my netbook has inbuilt wifi. I even downloaded the wifi driver from my manufacturer's website for the same model I'm having right now. Once I install it,in the end I get the message that the wifi is either removed or not present in my lap. I removed the battery and I even saw there was something printed about the wireless network component of my lap. But in the end,I'm left with no option to connect to a wifi network. Anyone has any idea what I need to do? Or is there something I'm missing?
In between,there's an led that tells the state of wireless network and it always is turned on. I try to turn it off by pressing Fn key+F2,which is the way to do it,and it just stays on and I've never seen it off apart from when the lap is totally shutdown. 😛

Open device manager, Expand "Network adapters" to confirm that there is wifi hardware installed (& windows sees it). If it shows in device mananger, great! Maybe a driver is missing/incorrect, or something has simply hidden your wifi icon?

If it does not appear in device manager, it may be a hardware issue (loose not properly seeded, failed hardware, etc...). Accessing the wifi on this model may be a pain because I don't believe yours has an access panel on the bottom - and requires removing the entire top (keyboard/palmrest) to access the parts in question.

There's Atheros PCI-E Fast Ethernet controller driver installed. Though,there's a Network controller driver yet to be installed on the Other devices section. It's driver is not present. Could it be the wi-fi? Btw,I dont see any other wireless network adapter or similar things under device manager...So,you think it's the hardware failure? Or is there any driver issue?

The Other device is probably your wifi & why it's not working The PCI-E Fast Ethernet controller that's installed is probably for the Wired Network port on the laptop. If you plug it in to a network cable, you should be able to get internet that way.

It looks like there were a few different wifi cards used, so we'll have to figure out which one yours is using.

Go back to device manager & look for the other device section. Expand, and right click -> Properties on the one that you mentioned.
click the Details Tab, and choose Hardware Ids from the property dropdown menu.

This will show you a VEN_#### & DEV_####. You can search these numbers on google to find what the VEN (vendor) and DEV (device) is, then download the appropriate one from the asus support site.

14E4:4727 = BCM4313

Download and install Broadcom Wireless driver from here (ver 5.60.350.11 for 32/64 bit Win7).
It should work because hardware ids of your wireless card are included in it.

It's an HP link, but the correct Broadcomm driver.

Thanks for the help mate. Actually like you said the driver was available in Asus website. It was just that I had to get the RIGHT one. Mine was AW-NB047H. And I wasn't trying to install the driver for that. Thanks for pointing out the fact that there were different cards used. I thought the one on the top was the latest version of my driver. 😛
Thanks and now my problem's fixed. I can access my neighbor's Internet from my home at last...! Hahaha 😀
