There are things in my laptop which I never use.

  • Optical drive
    Fingerprint scanner
    SD card port
    Ethernet port
    HDMI port

The HDMI cannot be disabled in the BIOS, but the rest can be turned off.

Question, if I turn these off from the BIOS, will it reduce power consumption? Or will this just be one of those "useless" tweaks?

Solution
The advantage of turning off options in the bios should boot your laptop up quicker as it will not be looking for them on boot up or afterwards so yes it would save more battery.or I would leave them on in the bios and set them to turn off after a couple of minutes in in a power plan those that are listed in power options in your control panel alternatively
