I have Windows 10 Home. Last night as I was on the Internet (no Office apps were in use), the screen flickered as if to reset itself. I now have the following problems:

o All MS Office icons have disappeared from my Startup screen.
o I cannot access any MS Office apps (Word, Excel, Explorer, etal).
o File Explorer does not operate.
o The Search dialog box has just disappeared from the screen.
o Before the Search dialog box disappeared, I was able to search by Folder, but no files could be discovered anywhere.
o "Windows + X" keystrokes are non-responsive.
o Recycle Bin icon is non-responsive.
o I can reach the Internet via Mozilla Firefox, but am unable to open more than one window or screen.

Attempted solutions:
o I ran sfc/scannow but the report showed no integrity violations.
o I was able to access Control Panel and verified that my font setting is standard 100% and my toolbar is set to 9.
o I shut down overnight and rebooted this morning, with no improvement.

I have used Windows 10 for several months and never had a problem - until now.

Ideas?

i would run system restore to a few days ago

Go to settings/update & security/recovery and under advanced start up, select restart now
on blue menu, select troubleshoot
select system restore

alternatively you could run dism (see here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows_10-update/system-file-check-sfc-scan-and-repair-system-files/bc609315-da1f-4775-812c-695b60477a93)
