Windows 7 chimes every few minutes

Hi, I can't figure out what this new sound is that my laptop is making. I have an HP Pavilion that I got back in Nov. 09 with Windows 7 64 bit. It just recently began making this peculiar sound every few minutes. I can't identify the sound, but it sounds similar to the windows ding or error message, but it's not the same. It is not an error message. I'm just trying to give an example of what the sound is like. Here's the really strange part. It still makes this noise even if the sound is muted. It doesn't matter what programs are open, it still makes the noise. The noise doesn't seem to be affecting anything except that it is annoying. Does anybody have any ideas?

I don't remember the exact name of this but it has something to do with the battery power state.
