Would Apple Earphones on my Laptop

I am running a hp pavilion dv6 with windows 7 and i am wondering if i can use my apple earbuds as a mic instead of using my pc's integrated mic. I bought a female 3.5mm adapted to 2 a mic and headphone connector. When i plug this is it wont recognize my headphones as a mic but i can hear audio(from the right ear only) im wondering if its a wrong adapter or if its my laptop since it uses IDT instead of RealTek and it has 3 female 3.5mm ports( 2 headphone ports and 1 mic port).. Please help

Hi,

According to some users of these Apple earpods, it does work with laptop either as a Mic or a Headphone but it only works 1 at a time. If your laptop uses 2 3.5mm port that means you can use it as a Mic only and you'll need to set it as the default Microphone.

on the laptop, the mic port is seperated from the earphone output port. The circuit is different. So it only work for earphone output with apple earbuds.
