I'm looking for an LD-S2, if anyone has one to unload. I'd also be interested
in a CLD-97 although I have a feeling it'd be more than I want to spend.

Not sure if you've looked around but the S2 brings the same price range as
the 97.

I haven't been able find either one on EBay, lately, with the exception
of a single LD-S2 that listed with a large collection of discs and sold
for $400 or so, and a single CLD-97 that a user "Sound By Singer" has
tried listing *3* times with a Buy It Now price of $800.

$450 may be high in today's market. As I said, I saw an S2 sell on EBay
for only slightly over $400 ($415 or so) and it had discs with it.
Considering this, the market value for an S2 or 97, without the AC-3
addition, may only be about $325. I've noticed that prices on the DVL
players have dropped significantly.

Sound by Singer probably cannot afford to sell it for it's value, $400 or
$450. More if it had an AC-3 output added. All the S2's I've seen have
also gone in that range toward the end of the year if they were in good
working condition. I have an S2 I'm going to sell sometime after I add AC-3
to it. Just not sure when I'll have time to get around to it.

Probably out of your price range, but:

....and no, it's not my auction.
