My X1 yoga gen 2 stopped recharging and I realised only when less than 10% was remianing. Tried frantically to reset and tried resetting, by putting pin in back
and then even removing the back, disconnecting main battery and then cell battery>>> put the back on and connecting cable again, orange light comes up for few secs and then turns off. tried 2 to 3 times but same issue.
What does this mean? One time red light on 'i' of thinkpad kept showing on for quite sometime before turning off
Can you not turn on the pc at all without the battery-need to get some files off before I take it to anyone? What does it mean-motherboard gone?
which battery needs replacing main or button?

BTW the laptop is 2.5 years old and one time it was returned for fixing during warranty

Aftermarket means not a true manufacturer's part. That would be an aftermarket battery. If you look at the specifications it tells you the battery maker. Which seems to be the company that the site belongs to. Obviously not OEM (OEM = original equipment manufacturer).

For accessing the battery, you can try these steps... https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd030267 If they don't work for yours I am sure you can find more info on the Lenovo site on its removal/replacement.

You can try searching online for the battery or try the Lenovo site. Go here... https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en and enter the information for you device. It should be able to help you find where you can purchase the battery.
Some laptops indeed will not work without an installed and functioning battery.

It could be the battery, it could also be the charger.

Try seeing if it will charge when the laptop is totally off. Obviously the battery will need to be in. If it will charge then, you likely need a new charger. If, however, it won't charge even when powered off, then you will need to either test the laptop with another charger (make sure it is the same specs) or just replace the battery and charger.

Before going so far as to replace them, as it can be costly, you may want to have a local tech test the device to see which it is. You should be able to find one that will do that rather cheaply.

Also, if you do need a new battery and/or charger, be sure you get OEM ones and not aftermarket. Some aftermarket stuff is good, but not laptop batteries and chargers.

definitely not the charger as I have another X1 yoga and checked with it-also tried the cahrger of that one on this laptop-doesnt work. Not charging at all- briefly the laptop turns on and then all dead!!! so if I have to buy a battery where do I get it from? Cant see any on Lenovo site. What do you mean by aftermarket?
is this site ok to buy from? is this OEM/aftermarket?

Also how easy is it to replace it yourself-I have opened the back and have seen how to disconnect the battery and see there are 3 screws holding it-can i just replace it without much hassle?
