Yamaha HTR-5280 static on left channel

Hi. I have a Yamaha HTR-5280 that has been a work horse for 18 years. Over the last few months it's developed an issue where static appears in the front left speaker. I've eliminated the speaker and input source from being an issue (happens on all inputs). Does anyone have a suggestion where to begin for repair?

Does it have pots (potentiometers) or switches for the volume, tone, etc.....

I would play some music and then start turning all the pots and switching all the switches...you may find a buggy one. I find this pretty common in older equipment.
