Hi!
So I have a Galaxy J5 (J500FN), Android 6.0.1, latest version of youtube, no problem with my internet ( I'm writing this from my phone), not rooted, stock rom . Recently, videos on youtube just won't load.It buffers for about 10-20 seconds then it stops and says "Connection to server lost. Tap to retry". Also, I can't download anything from the playstore, it's stuck on Downloading (it doesnt show download progress, it just says downloading). I'm guessing my phone is blocking Google's servers for some reason, since everything else works perfectly fine. I tried changing DNS, uninstalled and reinstalled Youtube multiple times, cleared the cache...
I will be very thankful if somebody helps me solve this problem.

Try these...

1. Go into your "Settings" and make sure the "Time and Date" are set correctly. "Automatic date and time" should be turned on.

2. Go into your "Settings" and then to "Apps" or "Application Manger" (depending on how your phone has it set up). In here you should be able to scroll and locate "Clear cache". If it isn't there, you may have to go into "Storage" and then "Clear Cache". After doing so, restart the phone.

3. Again go into "Settings" and then "Apps". Scroll and locate the "Google Play" App. Tap it and in there use the "Clear Cache" option. After doing so, restart the phone.

4. Make sure the apps aren't disabled. Go into "Settings" then "Apps" and then to the "Disabled" tab. Make sure neither app is listed.

5. If...

Question from ChunkySquirrel : "Youtube vidoes won't load"

Yes it works perfectly fine, its just that youtube and google play store dont work properly.

5. If none of the above works, you may need to refresh your Google account on your phone. You would need to remove the account and then add it to the phone again. Go to "Settings" and then tap "Accounts". Next tap the "Google account" you want to remove, then tap the "menu icon" (three dots at the top right) and tap "Remove account". You would have to do that for all Google accounts on the device.

6. If this started after any update, then try uninstalling said update.

7. Last resort, do a "Hard Reset" of the device.

NOTE: Doing this will clear 'all' the data on your phone, so it is suggested you not choose this option unless you have to, or aren't worried about losing anything on the phone.

Be sure you back up any data you want to keep, to a computer or cloud account, before doing the reset.

To "Hard Reset" the phone...

1. Make sure that the phone is actually powered off.

2. Remove your SD card, if there is one in the device.

3. Press the "Power" and the "Volume Up" buttons, together, until you see the start-up logo on the screen.

4. Once you can see the logo, release the buttons and allow the device to enter the "System Recovery Mode".

5. Next use "Volume Down" button to get to the "wipe data/factory reset" option When in recovery mode the "Volume Up" and "Volume Down" buttons are how to can navigate and highlight what option you need.

6. Once you have selected the "wipe data/factory reset", press the "Power" button to select that option.

7. On the following screen, repeatedly press the "Volume Down" button until the "Yes - delete all user data" option is what is selected.

8. Then press the "Power" button to hard reset the phone.

9. If you took your SD card out in step 2, when the device is up and running again, reinstert the SD card.

For me, the problem was perhaps even more serious. When I opened the youtube app, i would see a blank screen with only the menu bar at the top and bottom (home, trending, etc). Whatever I pressed, the app would just keep showing me the "circling" (loading) button. I had the same problem if I clicked on 'My apps and games' in Google playstore app. I restarted the phone and both got fixed.
