YPAO Setting Question

Hello,

I am getting mixed direction on YPAO speaker calibration with my Yamaha AVR (TSR7810). Can you please advise if what I did was correct or wrong?

Ran YPAO (Muliti Point)
Set speakers to small, 80hz (it classified them as large)
Since speaker distance did not match, I manually entered the correct speaker distance for all speakers
I manually set all levels to 75db with my SPL meter
Adjusted Atmos Modules +5db hot
Adjusted Rear surrounds +2db hot
Adjusted Center +3db hot

While everything sounds great, I am not getting a lot from my atmos modules. Is the distance from the speaker to me, or from the speaker, to the ceiling, then to me? (YPAO set the distance longer)

Also, if you notice anything else that I did wrong or can offer feedback, it would be appreciated!

Thanks!
Robert

You seem to have done a better job that YPAO did. You are using Atmos encoded content to judge?
Atmos speakers really need to be on the ceiling firing down. "Atmos modules": placed on top up of your speakers firing up don't produce the same effect regardless of how loud you play them. They know that most people don't have the option of using ear level speakers and ceiling mounted Atmos speakers so they came up with the modules to make it easier to sell.
