My zoom 1 and zoom 2 are grayed out when I play a certain DVD. The movie is in 2.35:1 and only wants to sit in the middle of the Samsung screen. Zooming in would solve the problem if only it would work... Samsung told me it's the source's problem. However the disk played fine on the LG the Samsung replaced. Any thoughts?

zoom is a feature of the dvd interactive suite its not available on all dvd's what you want is the tvs aspect control. try setting it to auto in the tvs menu rather than the dvd player. the tv should then pick the best aspect ratio to display the movie.

Thanks for the response. The Samsung TV does not have "Auto" as a picture option. Only 16:9, Zoom 1, Zoom 2, Wide Fit, 4:3 and Screen Fit.

As I said before, zoom 1 and 2 are grayed out. It is normally set for 16:9. Wide fit does not work. Any other thoughts?

screen fit is also known as auto. but it will depend on the aspect ratio of your screen as to how well the picture fits.
4:3 will look distorted on a 16:9 screen as will a 16:9 image on a 1.21 ratio screen. like i said its likely more to do with the screen format and nothing to do with the dvd options.

Again, thank you. I am aware of the distortions and what they look like each way. I have tried all formats and all settings. From what I can tell the only solution is the zoom option. But it's grayed out. I'm trying to figure out why it is unavailable on my TV. If that feature isn't an option then why bother with showing the option and graying it out?
