Surround Sound Receiver - TV connectivity

The easiest way to connect a a/v receiver is by connecting your tv to the HDMI out on the receiver. Everything else, blu-ray, gaming systems, etc. connect to the hdmi ins on the a/v receiver. The receiver is your hub, the tv is the output. Sound goes into the receiver, then the picture is...

New Yamaha 7.2 channel receiver won't register surround back speakers

Update... I fixed it. All I had to do was unplug the receiver. Though I'm not sure what this says about Yamaha. I know they are supposed to be good, but with a brand new device I should not have to unplug it and plug it back in to get a function to work... This is Yamaha receiver number three...

New Yamaha 7.2 channel receiver won't register surround back speakers

I just replaced my 3 year old Yamaha receiver with a new one after the HDMIs stopped working. Nothing has changed with my setup, and I use banana plugs so its easy to disconnect wires. I was under the impression all I had to do was connect the new receiver, and then do a YPAO mic setup. But this...

How can I have two monitors and a a/v receiver for sound connected to my pc?

The optical port on either the motherbaord of a/v receiver is bad, so sound crackles and goes out. So the simple solution seemed to be to just use a HDMI for sound, but I have no idea how to get it to work. And my home theater is a 7.1 channel, so using an older method would ruin the sound. I...

Crackling and sound going out with digital optical setup. Can't fiqure out if its the a/v receiver or pc motherboard

Is there a way to do it with a normal hdmi? I have a twenty-five foot HDMI, which is just barely long enough. If I can do it that way, it would be better than waiting until Tuesday for amazon to ship a coaxial cable. The closet store I could buy one at is an hour away.

Crackling and sound going out with digital optical setup. Can't fiqure out if its the a/v receiver or pc motherboard

The optical cable is connected to my pc and 7.1 channel home theater. One day I started hearing crackling and the sound would go out for a few seconds, around every minute or so. I replaced another cable, no change, then bought a new $35 cable, still the same results. It happens with both...

Malwarebytes keeps blocking Microsoft Office, and considers Word a "exploit"

I've had malwarebytes for over a year, and just renewed my premium subscription. Today it has decided to block MS Office Word. So every time I open word, it will close and malewarebytes gives a report saying it blocked an 'exploit' I don't want to disable malwarebytes, I've already paid over...

Are the days of 3D televisions over?

Maybe they were gimmicks years ago. But in 2014 they were easy to aquire. I paid $600 for my 45" samsung smart 3d tv. It had one of the best pictures at the time. Glasses were $20, 3D movies only a few dollars more than regular and most blu rays are combo packs of 3d, standard blu ray, and...

Are the days of 3D televisions over?

People said that about 4k, and look where that is now. But companies allowed 4k to grow by making it more available. But they took 3d away, and made only their high end models have it. Blu-rays sell many 3D copies, and there is a demand for 3D. People were not happy about star wars 7 3d being...

Are the days of 3D televisions over?

I've noticed over the past 2 years the number of 3Ds tvs to choose from has dropped drastically. There are only a few 3D tvs now, and they are extremely overpriced, the cheapest I found was $2,500. Back in 2014, there were too many 3D tvs, and I read somewhere they made up 40% of tv sales. On a...

What is the best speaker mount for plaster walls?

I have four Klipsch R-14M, but do not know the best way to hang them on my walls, which are plaster. I finally upgraded from the terrible Insignia speakers that I used as a temporary replacement for the Yamaha speakers that stopped working after four years of use. Both the Insignia and Yamaha...
