Hi Brian,
I also recently purchased a 1010 on eBay that appeared to be in great
physical shape. Cosmetic aesthetics are flawless and the original
remote and box were also included. Like you, my primary monitor at the
moment is a 32" Sony and I noticed the 'crosstalk' that you speak of
on the very first title (Toy Story) that I played. Unsure if it was
the player or the disc, I then tested the same LD on other players
(DVL-919, CLD-606, CLD-504, etc.) and the horizontal fuzziness
disappeared. So all in all, I've probably watched 2 dozen movies on
the 1010 and a great majority of them really distracted me to the
point that I was focusing on the crosstalk and not the movie. That
being said, I'm afraid to take a gamble on another 1010.
Which brings me to Kurtis, also - I have an Elite CLD-97 that I
purchased several years ago on eBay that arrived with a 'stuck loading
tray' and thus will not open. I'd love to have it working/tuned and
possibly have AC-3 added. A 1010 tune up would be appreciated as well
and I'd love to place it in our bedroom as a trusty spare/secondary
unit.
Sorry if I veered off topic here. I'm obviously in a similar situation
and will be curious how you go about getting good performance out of
your deck, Brian. Any input from Kurtis or further replies on your
(Brian) dilemma will be greatly appreciated.
