Hi!

I'm from Canada and came across that deal which is a Acer D270-1466 10" netbook for 199$. See link http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=67,3194&webid=933883&affixedcode=WW

I only want to use it while I'm sitting in front of the TV and while travelling and to do the following things: surf the web with Chrome (5 to 10 tabs at a time), edit documents with OpenOffice and watch pictures and movies. NO gaming. I intend to do only one thing at a time. I also have another computer at home on which I store all the documents, pictures and movies that I have. So I will access those with my netbook so HD space is not an issue.

It's a pretty good deal I think but here are my questions:
-Possible to use 5 to 10 tabs at a time in Chrome?
-Possible to watch movies? Even HD movies?
-10" too small for what I want to do?
-Is 1GB of RAM enough?
-Windows 7 Starter good enough?

Thank you very much!

Link doesn't work since it is asking for a Canadian zipcode.

1GB of RAM is too little for Win 7. You will need at least 2GB. More if you want to do multiple things at the same time like having many tabs open in Chrome.

Is 10" too small? Depends on the person. I think it is, but it also depends on the resolution.

The model I was talking can be found here: http://www.acer.ca/ac/en/CA/content/model/NU.SGAAA.006

I actually went to the store and tried a similar one. Yes it is slower than my desktop computer but it looks like it can handle HD videos easily. I ran Internet Explorer and it was a little bit slow... I'm expecting something better with Google Chrome.

I might pay extra and get the Acer D270-1998 (http://www.acer.ca/ac/en/CA/content/model/NU.SGAAA.001) to get the 6 cell battery instead of the 3.
