2 aspire 5520's ,dead

Hello,
I have 2 defect laptops, both Acer Aspire 5520 laptops.
Now, none of them boots up.
With the first one : it boots up and shuts down after like 2 secs ... and it does that every time.
Second one : when i boot it up, but then freezes with a black screen, with one dash flashing in the corner.
And i cannot seem to get the pc booting from a cd, because it freezez at the dash aswell after selecting boot type..

Tries swapping hdd's didn't work, tried 3 hdd's on each laptop, and it's not the battery either ..
Anyone can help?

the first one the board has a short somewhere causing the board to shut off to prevent further damage. the second one replace the hard drive.
