2 Jacks 1 Plug

I recently bought a new headset and it only has 1 plug which has the microphone included but the problem is i have 1 audio and 1 mic jack in my pc.

Is there any way to make it work without a splitter?

I'm using realtek audio drivers, a RIG 500 headset with 3 rings around the plug and windows 7 I tried it on my brother's mac and everything worked fine :?

Audio will work without a splitter but the mic won't. Also macs use the combined audio+mic plug.

I don't get why you can't just get a splitter though. They're literally 5-10$.
