What's the best headset for pinpointing footsteps? any opinions?
I used to have a cheap $20 headset for 2 years until it broke. It was some no-name brand, but it was so awesome cuz it was so cheap. Sound would only come from 8 different directions, so by turning my player in a game, I could poinpoint where enemy footsteps were coming from.

So Devin how about you be instrumental with your influence and show them the reviews and encourage them to set up a distribution center and get your sample to review and be the first to do a quality review :) "Be the ball, run with it my son" haha Maybe I will use my influence and chat with them..

All I can say is maybe. Maybe it will find its way into our next headset review, maybe not.

If all you want is positional audio, any virtual/hardware 5.1 surround sound headset is going to do that for you. I've been a CS player for years, and I have never owned a headset that hindered my ability to position someone on a map based on their footsteps.

If you can't spend more than $50, go with a SteelSeries 4H, which is a basically a watered-down 5H.

you can buy the medusa's through canadian and american sites, http://www.medusa-canada.com/index.php and http://www.medusa-usa.com/index.php respectively. while i love the medusa, ive been using them for years, im not pleased with how long they last. generally after a year the plastic frame that holds the cans to the headband will crack and open up, leading to one of the cans hanging by the wires. after seeing the review you did on the logitech g35 i think im going to try those after my current medusa's give up the ghost. thanks for all the reviews.

Good to know. Thanks for the tip! Definitely confused as to why the sites don't show up on Google Product Search or PriceGrabber.

Reading the comments, it sounds like a chart of all reviewed headphones would be nice. I know the speaker and headphone market is slower to change so such a chart would be easier to maintain than a CPU or GPU chart. Just need to comment in the chart that they are based off a personal review, and not set in stone benchmarks.

I would like to see a review of the Psyko Audio 5.1's if you ever touch on this subject again. They seem like they could be amazing but I have yet to read a review from a trusted source.

If you click on the link that Rachel put in a few posts up, that review include the Psyko 5.1 headset.

[citation][nom]Timbo[/nom]Bose headsets are available starting @ $125.... why not include them in the review?[/citation]

Do you mean Bose headPHONES? Needs to have a mic to qualify for a headset roundup. If you're talking about their aviation headsets, those aren't meant for use with gaming or personal computing in general.

[citation][nom]omgwtfbbqwalhhax[/nom]just some food for thought, but why not include the Sennheiser PC 350's?[/citation]

Couldn't get them in time. Maybe in the next roundup.

[citation][nom]jrnyfan[/nom]I automatically forget about anything with "Fatal1ty" in the name.[/citation]

That used to be my philosophy as well, but the MKII headset came as a pleasant surprise.

Uh no Sennheiser PC350... I think that's a big omission since it's the only one I can think that can really compete with the Astro on a price basis.
