3.5 mm microphone jack not working on windows 8.1

Bought a Y50 from Lenovo which came in today. The 3.5 mm microphone jack on the right side of the laptop is not working. I have the siberia v2 headset( not usb), the mic works on my desktop but not on the Y50 . I already installed the latest realtek audio drivers from lenovos website and it didn't seem to work. Can anyone help me?

Hi, the Y50 has a combo jack for the audio, meaning you have the headset and microphone in the same jack. So, you can't just connect the microphone in the jack.

So you are saying I can't have audio and a mic at the same time? Any way I can get around that?

Yes, you need this cable to use the headset and microphone.
