3.5mm Dual to Single Adapter

I have a headset that also has a microphone, but it only has one jack. My PC does not have a Dual Headphone/Microphone jack, so I understand that I need to buy a Female Dual 3.5mm to 2 Male 3.5mm Adapter.

Do I need to specifically look for one advertised as turning a dual 3.5mm jack into two jacks (one for headphones and one for microphone) or will any headphone splitter accomplish the same task?

So you have a headset/mic with only one 3.5mm plug but your PC has 2 separate jacks, 1 for audio and 1 for mic.
If that's is right then you need a 3.5mm Headset Splitter Adapter like this one here

Joke answer is the solution?

With certainty, you could buy better headphones made for the job.... this answer is meant to be as ridiculous as the quoted one.

Cables are very simple, you don't need any thing fancy at all. This is all basic Electronics I did back when I was 16....Heaphones use a stereo plug, 3 wires, the mic is using 1 (mono)... it really isn't rocket science to make it work.

The only way the splitter cannot work is if someone forgot to connect the cable to the plugs/sockets.
