Hello,
I'm looking for suggestions for a Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, and Headphones. I have 250-300 dollars budgeted for my new system, since I have been using only a laptop.
Preferences-
Monitor preferably IPS. No less than 1080p 60hz.
Keyboard needs a backlight.
Headphones circumaural (around the ear).
I haven't had a 'proper' keyboard for any length of time, so I'm open to both membrane and mechanical keyboards. From reading, I would probably like Cherry MX Brown switches.

If you have any suggestions please post them below, I'm looking for ideas. Thanks in advance.

just thought i'd post this information on why a cheap ips monitor might not be what you expect.

in your price range most of what you will be looking at labeled as ips are only e-IPS (not to be confused with E-IPS) panels which are either 6bit natively or 6bit+frc (frame rate control) used to fake 8bit by dithering and really are not much better than other common panels like tn or va also available in 6bit and with frc. an e-IPS panel does not have much improvement over other panels and at most offers a slightly wider viewing angle.

the IPS panels which do make a difference in terms of color accuracy are ones such as s-ips, h-ips, p-ips and other variations which are available in native 8bit and 10bit panels. they also feature near 180 degree viewing angles with little distortion but often have slightly slower response times. the trouble however is the price and even 8bit panels could exceed your whole budget.

many manufacturers attempt to hide the type of panel actually used and whether they use frame rate control by not listing this information on the spec sheet. i attemped to look up the Acer H6 H276HLbmid panel above but found nothing clarifying the type of panel so can only assume its probably e-ips in 6bit with frc.

whats the difference between 6bit+frc imitating 8bit and true 8bit? a good example would be http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/images/samsung970_dithering.gif and http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/images/gradient2_dell2007wfp_small.jpg

now, there is nothing wrong with using just an e-ips panel in 6bit+frc but i'm just making sure you're aware what the differences are in case you thought it was going to be somehow more color accurate then other choices in your budget. they will have a wider viewing angle than tn but similar to va. color accuracy will be similar to the rest as well. generally they will be slower response time than tn but similar to va. not a bad panel by any means but nothing seperates it away from the competition.
