4050 Fan noise

Howdy all,

I have a 4050 that has a fan that has started "buzzing." Usually this is an
indication of a failing fan (besides being noisy!). I know the 80x80x15 fan
is not easy to come by but that is not my question. My question is, has
anyone run a replay without the fan? From some basic tests, it doesn't seem
that replay puts off a lot of heat (nothing like my PC), so I am wondering
if not having the fan is too hard on the components (assuming the replay is
not confined in a media center or other confined space, which mine isn't).

Anyone tried this and had success (or failure)?

Thanks all.

I would not suggest running w/o fan, fans are in fact easy to come by,
as 1: There is some tollerance, Radio Shack here in the US and I"m sure
the equivlent in other countries carries a fair selection,

2: Dedicated electronic stores (Near me it's called R.S. Electronics)
carry a much wider selection some of which are impressive

The trick is finding a quiet fan.
