Hello so I recently bought the ASUS ROG G501VW.

My screen resolution was on 1920 x 1080 which was not sharp at all, so I switched to 4k resolution and now everything is sharp and I can read everything perfectly fine. But all my apps are really small, VMWare etc.

What can I do? I also get really low FPS on games.

What part?
Well, like i said, you made a bad decision. 4k shouldn't be touched on screens smaller than 28". you've been fooled by marketing hype.
You made a poor decision.
That being said, in Windows keep teh resolution at 4k and go to display settings and set teh DPI scaling to 200%:

In games, set teh resolution to 1920x1080. It will look crisp because each pixel will just be draws as 2x2 pixels. There's no way to game @4k on that GPU.
