5.1 from pc w/o hdmi

How do I hook up my media server (old pc) to yahama receiver for 5.1? I am streaming through network and get sound on TV but no surround sound. I do not have an HDMI output on the pc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question #1, who's doing the surround decoding, your speakers or the PC?

If speakers is doing the decoding, then Toslink, Digital Coax, USB maybe options.

If PC is doing the decoding, output through 3 or more 3.5mm jacks, then speakers must have 6 channels discreet inputs. See labels specifying Front-Surround-Center-Subwoofer?
