Are these still in the process of being updated, as I never got it? I
figured they would be done by now, since they started in February.

For those of you that did receive it, has the program guide improved
speed-wise?

Still waiting on mine.
I dial in at least every 2 days to no avail.

I got a mailer in the mail last week telling me to expect the update "soon"

I have received *two* mailers from DirecTV touting the TiVo
software upgrade in the last month or so. Still no upgrade
though.

6.2? My series 2 was recently updated to 7.1b-01-2-240, and the
program guide speed improved dramatically. Now that it's been running
a couple weeks, it doesn't seem to pixellize and pause as often
either.

I'm fairly new to the TIVO world and also get confused about software versions.
Seems that the latest versions mentioned in various posts are for specific
TIVOs. Stand alone TIVO and DirecTivo. Is that true. And what about series 1 as
opposed to series 2? Do they have different "latest" software versions?

Yes, the 6.2 is in reference to "Series 2" DTiVos.

The 7.1* version is for Series 2 SAs.

Version 3.0 is latest for Series 1 SAs.
Version 3.1.0c2 is latest for "Series 1" DTiVos.

As I understand it, Version 5.x is the latest for some
Series 2 SA-with-DVD units (which will get 7.x eventually).

I guess that would make my DSR 7000/17 a "Series 1" DTiVo?
Why are they sending me the 6.2 update cards/pamphlet?
It seems like they were calling it a Series 2, when I first got it.

Luck;

This thread is in regards to DTV series 2 Tivos which do not
legitimately have 7.X software.

Your box IS a "Series 2" The 6.2 is the latest version of the OS that you
will, in the future, get. Just because you are on v3 doesn't mean you
have a "Series 1", it just means you haven't been upgraded yet.

Ah, that's good to know, you had me worried there. By the
way it has 3.1.1e on it now, and I think it stopped doing "TiVo
Suggestions" about the time of the last software update.

Some people at tivocommunity.com have reported that they got the upgrade.

So no improvements for Series 1 DTivos?

Yes, it is a bit faster and there are a few new options. The speed
increase is noticable but not drastic. I like the folders. You won't
feel like you have to re learn how TiVo works as it's not that big a
deal.

I am in Southern Virginia and it just showed up over the weekend..
