670m Not Working or Showing Up in Device Manager

Jun 9, 2016
I have a Toshiba Qosmio with a 670m, and up until recently, I've been experiencing some real issues with my GPU. In device manager, under the display adapters category, the only available option is Intel HD Graphics 4000. When I click on show hidden devices, the 670m shows up. However, when I double click on it, the status is

"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

Yesterday I followed a bunch of "fixes" that didn't do anything. This included factory resetting my computer. This morning, it was working fine for about 2 hrs and then it wasn't in device manager anymore. If I try to install nvidia drivers, I get an error message saying that I don't have the GPU installed. All help is appreciated, thank you.

As you can see, it's hidden.

This looks like a hardware problem to me already since you've done all the possible troubleshooting steps already. I would suggest opening the laptop the if the GPU can be removed, take it off for a second then put it back in and apply new thermal paste on the GPU and CPU then test it again. But if the laptop comes in with a non removable GPU that means replacing the entire motherboard would be the only solution. If the laptop is still under the factory warranty do contact Toshiba for a repair.

Here's a video guide on how to disassemble your laptop. (not sure though if this is the correct model)
