A read disk error occurred windows xp

Hello,
a read disk error occurred press ctl alt del
bios list starts then 'pressF2 for set up'

cannot press F on rebooting . nor F5 nor win logo =R for start. running winxppro

I'm a little confused with the english grammar here, please clarify/specify

If you get a read disk error when you are booting your hard drive is probably dead. If you know what brand of hard drive you could download their diagnostics and burn a boot cd to test it (from another computer).
