Hi, my Mum's Acer Aspire 5250-bz452 laptop running windows 7 64-bit won't start up properly. It will go past the Acer logo and then immediately to a black screen thats says:

Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 083)
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation

For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.0.2.7 (11/02/10)

Check cable connection!
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

Well, I have tried going into the setup menu and checking that the harddrive appears at the top of the list, which it does. We don't have CDs for it so we can't insert a boot disk. We also want to be able to hopefully keep anything that is on it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks.

Sounds like all you have to do, is go into the BIOS and change the boot order. If you haven't done this before, there should be a screen that will probably say Acer in the back and have text on the screen saying stuff like, "F#: boot or F#: setup."

Try the one that sounds the most like "setup" -- should be F2 for Acer kaptops... after you get there, post a picture of the screen.

Unless you can see where to go to change the boot device, this will be the best idea, as this makes it where we know what all is going on with the computer, and can competently assist you.
