There is no free Windows version, but you can certainly use your existing Windows license to re-install it on your computer. What version of Windows did it have?

Please look at this asap! I'm going through the same issue right now and I have the same computer with a cd drive. I tried all the option and even when I try to factory reset and erase everything, I get to maybe 62% before it just stays there for a while then said factory reset cannot finish and gives me the option to hit cancel . Like I'm stuck in the biggest loop , please help. And by the way I tried every option in troubleshoot , however I wasn't able to get into safe mode. May

Hi there Terelle,

I believe there's a chance that your HDD is failing or it has failed.
My suggestion would be to download some HDD testing tool for DOS mode, and test your HDD. You will need a flash drive or a CD.

If there's something wrong with it, you will need to replace it.
If the laptop is under warranty, you can just contact the manufacturer's Support.

Thanks all who helped I was so sure I had to send my computer away to acer to get fixed but I tried one last thing and it worded!! what I did was used my friends computer who has window 10 then went to google and type in Microsoft medial tool download then once I got to the webpage I download the media tool and opened it . Then it prompted me to select what I want to burn the windows on and I hit USB . I download on to the USB then I went to troubleshoot into my own computer hit start up setting and of course it failed then I went to more options and went to uploads via USB . Then the download started and work . Thanks everybody .hope this helps others.
