Acer typing issue

I have an Acer A0531h running Windows XP and it suddenly started missing letters when I type. If I type very slow and deliberately it recognizes most of my keystrokes but if I type normally it misses about every 5th keystroke.

For example: Thi s a test and nl a test.

I have not spilled anything on it and I uninstalled and reinstalled the keyboard driver with no change.

So I have no idea why this worked but I removed the battery and plugged the computer back in and it works fine. It is also a lot lighter without the battery attached but I guess I can never use it as a real laptop again. Oh well. It's not worth the money to replace the battery.
