I have an Onkyo TX-NR676 receiver with 5.1 wired speaker set-up. I would like to add rear speakers to the surround system. Can I add them to make it a 7.1 system? if so, what speakers are compatible?

You can use this kit
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/rocketfish-universal-wireless-rear-speaker-kit-black/8275528.p?skuId=8275528&cmp=RMX&extStoreId=1467&ref=212&loc=1&ksid=5b233906-4281-43d9-aaeb-fe11788b8aca&ksprof_id=16&ksaffcode=pg252604&ksdevice=c&lsft=ref:212,loc:2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0L-G9ezD2AIVRYGzCh3qlQuhEAQYASABEgIR0_D_BwE
with any speakers. You can use it for surround or surround back. I suspect you can't use two of them to do both though.
You could use speakers to line level converter connected speaker terminals to provide an input for a bluetooth transmitter and a stereo pair of bluetooth speakers.
