This guy I know at work, his name is Mark, is not so bright.

Like me, he is a single guy dating, but he has no cell phone, no little
black book and he wants to always go out with me to meet women, yet I can
get my own dates on my own, thank you.

Anyhow, I advised him to get himself a cell phone because, as I put it, what
good is collecting phone numbers when your too busy to receive calls when
you're busy dating?

Anyhow, he is undecided on 3 carriers, Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile.

He says that both AT&T and T-Mobile offer free phones, it seems to be his
decided factor, yet I told him that what really matters is the service you
get AFTER you get the phone.

So, any responses to this inquiry will be forwarded to Mark, so he can
benefit from the knowledge of the experts in this newsgroup.

Thank you!

I love these "Hey, Doc. My friend has this drip..." posts! <g>

What matters most is the signal quality at the locations(s) the phone
is used. No signal, everything else is moot.

Try them and see!

How impressed are the girls going to be after he tells them, "I'm so
cheap, I only considered plans with free phones!"

I tried to express that with my camera phone. I told him I manage to get the
lady's attention with it.

Can you imagine trying to impress the ladies with a basic cell?

Geesh!

On my date tonight, I showed my date some pictures I took with my cell.

Well, people met and married for centuries before cell phones came
along. If a "lady" is only impressed by what phone you have (or car
you drive, or etc.), then she isn't worth the trouble.

Personally, I can't imagine trying to impress the ladies with *any* cell!

Must be an age thing. <g>

Go with Verizon and pay for the phone.

My friend got one of the higher-end Nextel (he's in Florida, the only
place nextel manages to cover decently - but then again its not exactly
hard turf to cover) phones. When out to eat with his family the
waitress was like "WOW this phone is cool, I wanted to buy
one"-blahblah. In the process she's adding her phone # to his phone.

Now that girl has some game!

And yet, you still post advice?

Isn't it, though...
