Solved! After BIOS update no Windows 10, but anti-virus and Chrome are working

I have a HP Probook 4540 with Windows 10 creators update (installed 1-2 weeks ago). Yesterday, I visited the HP site to check for any drivers and found that there was a new update to the BIOS (f.64) for my model. Downloaded and flashed the system with the new BIOS and now the Windows does not load.

On start, everything looks fine (background image, log in screen, three dots going round etc.) till the actual windows desktop screen. Windows does not load, only a black screen BUT the Comodo anti virus widget is on, I can move the mouse and I can see task manager using Ctrl + Alt. + Del. I can even open Chrome by clicking on the twitter button on the widget and browse to this forum and type this out.

I have checked all the other solutions on various threads:
(1) Disabling secure and fast boot
(2) witching boot options between Legacy, UEFI with CSM and without
(3) Removing battery and draining charge by pressing on power button for a minute or two
(4) Reseating memory modules

Most other threads were about how nothing is working but for me it seems only windows is not working. Task manager shows that most startup apps are working and apps inside program files also open if I can access the file through chrome.

If you push the power button to force the system to sleep (Assuming you did not change the power options) and then wake it up again, you should get a desktop.
My old media PC used to do that and this was the work around I used (also with CU).
Never could solve the issue.

Windows is actually loading, but the main interface which is called Windows explorer seems to be not working. When the system starts up, go to task manager and restart the explorer.exe process, see if that helps. You may need to kill it then start it again by using "new task" from the Applications tab.
