Sounds like you had a OS failure for your laptop, and the OS could not start by itself due to either corruption of the backup.
This is a common issue for branded laptop that sometimes the backup OS will get corrupted, virus, trojan and other errors, then even you did a full reset, the PC still will not start. This happens to my Alienware desktop and MSI laptop.
The only option you can do, is to install a clean OS from a DVD or USB, with a full format for your hard drive (delete all partitions - you will lose your backup OS, but you can create one by using backup software after your clean installation).
Just remember to install a window version that match your original OS, and after installation, windows should automatically activated via BIOS verification, so you do not have to pay for it.
