Altec Thx Speaker System with a Mac

I just went to a Mac and tried to hook up my old Altec THX speakers (with subwoofer) to the Mac, but cannot get all the channels operating.
Is there any software that I need to have to get the speakers working with the Mac?

What are you trying to play? DVDs?

Make sure your OS recognizes your speakers properly.. That is to say, if your speakers are 2.1 then make sure the speaker settings are set to 2.0/2.1.. On the software front, you just need to install your drivers for the sound card..
