The air coming out of the PSU isn't neither cool or hot but the CPU Idle temp is 50*C. On full load it's rising up to 57 max. I suppose that with the new cooler the temp. will drop by ~10 degrees if not more.

if your board have any option to save power reducing the CPU speed and voltage you should enable it, 50ºC on idle is just not right with stock cooler, I had around 40ºC. On load it was around 57ºC like yours.

Disable it when you try to increase the OC with new cooler

Well it unlocks and the i get Graphical anomalies when i try and do anything, open Everest or anything. Increasing Voltage stops this in 2D apps but if i launch 3d mark if crashes out.
I was wondering about the voltages as i said, CPUZ reports a lower voltage than the Bios but i think this is droop in play ?
What is load line calibration anyway ? lcp1109 sugested i disable it but i would like to know what it does first.

So basically how high is it safe to raise the voltage before i give up on the Quad and try for a Tri ?
Of course if im missing any other tricks please chime in.

Mactronix PS no OC yet

GL

Loadline calibration, if I'm not wrong manages the voltages, at least the one from vcore.

When I put it at 0%, and set vcore at 1.425, while using prime95 stress test vcore goes from1.42 to 1.46

When I put it "auto" and set vcore at 1.425, while using prime95 stress test vcore goes from 1.33 to 1.36, and PC crashes (blue screen)

Do a search for loadline calibration to confirm.

LoadLine Calibration reduces the vdroop. It doesn't remove it completely but it does make it manageable. I enable it when pushing the clocks to the limits.

The reason CPU-Z is off by a bit is because of vdroop, it shouldnt be that bad though.

So how high can i go with the Voltage then ? @ 1.475 it will start 3d mark 06 but crashes after a couple of minuites. 1.450 it wont run it at all.

can you disable cores manually at your bios? If yes, try it. Maybe you have one of the two extra cores that simply will not work correctly. Many ppl can only unlock one core, and some motherboards don't "know" how to check is a core is working properly or not.

Is not normal for you to need so high voltages. I need less than that and I have OC at 3.6MHz.

You should not make very big voltage changes. There is a slight chance of your 4 cores to work at a lower voltage and not work at a highest voltage. Too much voltage may put your hardware to work with errors. But every thing I'm telling you is what I notice when trying to overclock my CPU and thing I found on the internet. I'm far from been a pro at this.

Max safe voltage seems to be 1.5v

Yes i think i can do the cores seperatly. I have yet to try it at 1.5 and hav eyet to turn of Load line calibration so who knows.
Im not looking to run it as a Quad or Tri, i just want to know what it can or cant do. I can set value All cores0/1/2/3 Options are -12 to +12 but to be honest i dont really know what that all means.
i may try it at 1.5 and if not just leave it.

why your vdda voltage changes from first to second picture?

me too :)

because Load Line Calibration was disabled and once you change Bios screens you will see a small change in voltages.

does your vcore changes when you are using prime95 or other stress test?

mine changes from 1.39 to 1.5 according to CPUID monitor.

When LLC is enabled it will fluctuate between 1.44/1.48v depending on the CPU load @ 3.9/4ghz. If it's disabled the margin is greater, more like 1.41/1.5v.

Because voltage always fluctuates, with LLC enabled you can sometimes eliminate up to 98/99% of the v-droop depending on the board. So if you are overclocking I recommend you enable it.

"Auto", 100% and 50% = instante crash, as soon as I start prime95's test

at 25% my system seems stable, vcore is set at 1.425, goes normaly from 1.39 to 1.41

tks ;)

that's odd, when I enable LLC it shows exactly what I keyed in the Bios, for example if I set the v-core @ 1.43v, it shows 1.438v @ idle in CPU-Z :

mine changes when I use stress test.

btw, it's normal for PC to chash when I have LLC at 100%?
