Analog audio quality?

I have a 4dtv system and for some time now the audio on all analog channels
has been very poor. I get a lot of static sound. The video signal is
perfect and all digital channels have perfect video and audio. I replaced
the VCRS decoder unit with another (a skyvision tech said that must be it)
and it does exactly the same thing. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob

On the non-subscription channels the audio quality is fine.

My father had that problem too.We changing the vc2+ module, but it didn't
make any difference. Now he has another brand of receiver and everyhting is
fine.

Not an Echostar 5000,I hope?My dad had 2 in a row go bad.Pwr supply seems to
be the suspect,we think.

I have HEARD (cannot confirm with certainty) that the problem described
with audio as described in this post could be linked to the drying out
of electrolytic capacitors in the boards of the receivers.Unidens have
been mentioned as having this problem more than any others.Usually
happens only with old receivers though.
