Android mxq connection

I have just purchased a Samsung 5.1 blue ray home theatre..HT-J4100 I want to connect my android mxq to the surround sound...I purchased the special audio cable toslink to mini digital optical SPDIF audio cable. It does not work...the surround sound works fin with the tv and satellite...how do I get this to work? Setting in the android box... Is this the proper cable to do this???

The HT-J4100 has an OPTICAL digital input. The MXQ has a coax digital output. You need a converter like this -- https://www.amazon.com/C2G-40018-Coaxial-TOSLINK-Converter/dp/B0002J2MV4 Use an 3.5mm mono RCA cable on the MXQ side and optical cable on the Samsung side.

I don't believe so. That is an optical only, with 3.5mm connector on one end, cable. It does not have the circuit to convert from digital electrical, which the MXQ outputs to optical.

Hi kanewolf I purchased everything you suggested and I still don't have surround sound...??? Do I plug the cable into the Spdif on the android box?

Yes.

Are you saying you have some audio, but not surround sound?

Correct I have tv sound but no surround sound...do I need to change a setting on the android for surround sound

You may have to. I don't have one of those boxes, so I can't help with the setup...
