Android TV Box can't add any add-ons

Android box is connected to my internet but when I try to add any add-ons it gives me error"Unable to connect, Couldn't retrieve directori information. This could be due to network not being connected". I have made sure there are no spaces in the links, I have uninstalled kodi and reinstalled, I have restarted the box 1000 times. I have another box in living rm that works fine so I know my internet connection is good. Could there be some setting in the box that prevents it from connecting? I am kind of new to these boxes and thought I would ask for help before I throw it in the garbage. frustrated!

Even though it sounds like a "connection" problem have you tried to download and install the same KODI addons to your other Android box?
Some KODI addons have been shut down due to a lawsuit in the UK about the sale of preconfigured KODI on Android boxes. Even though KODI is legal some of the addons may not be.

Yes I have installed the same add-ons that I am attempting to install on new box on my other one and it worked fine. I even tried to put new box on that TV (where the working box is) but it still doesnt work.
