Antivirus for Windows XP SP2

Hello everyone.

I have an old Sony VAIO laptop in which I installed it's original factory OS (with its restore discs) which is Windows Media Center Edition SP2 32-bit. After the re-installation of XP I first of all tried to find it Anti-Virus software because I was going to use it on the internet. But after searching on google for a lot of time, I couldn't find a compatible antivirus software for it. I right now use it only on safe websites such as youtube. But I want to protect it with anti virus software. Can you help me find an antivirus for it?

you'd be better installing on it something like Ubuntu. way safer and will probably work faster.

If you must use XP then it should be SP3+all available updates.
Avast Free still supporting XP.
Best to keep it off the internet as it is just too vulnerable, but if you must, ditch Internet Explore and use Chrome.

Can I install an older version of AVG Antivirus for example from oldapps.com?

I think that Avast and AVG do still support Windows XP. If memory serves right, Avast is a bit more lightweight. However, if I was in your shoes, I would probably use a Linux distro such as Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Elementary, or anything like that.

They don't need an Antivirus to stay safe and they are pretty good for basic usage. I imagine that you wouldn't want to rely on a Windows XP machine for gaming and high productivity anyway.

You *might* be able to find and install an older version, but there's no guarantee at all that it would work properly, and of course would not have our latest protection (https/www.avast.com/nextgen) features.

Avast Free still supports Windows XP, but you would need to upgrade to XP SP3. Hope this helps!
