Any recommendations for a good free folder sync program?

I need to sync a bunch of folders to my portable external drive every so often. I use the external drive on my laptop and my tablet at times to access various files and folders. I have tried the Windows sync but it does not work in the same way as I want. I need to be able to access the folders as regular folders. Thank you in advance!

I use syncback free, its pretty good, you can set up which folders synchronise, mirror or copy and set up a schedule.
