There is a station in my area that is on its way to broadcasting digital
signal. I hear they are in fact broadcasting audio and video right now, but
without a PSIP-preventing us from tuning in to their station.

Sooo, last night I installed my new HD tuner card and sure enough, there was
like 98% signal available for that particular channel but no picture or
audio shows up. Not knowing anything about PSIP I have to wonder if there
is anything I can do to fool my system into thinking that a station is there
and actually watch the TV. Does anybody have any tips or comments they can
give me? I would really appreciate it! My tuner card is a Fusion 3 by
dvico.

THANKS!

They probably aren't sending out any programming yet but are just testing
the carrier. PSIP info includes program guide info and channel remap info
but isn't necessary for receiving programming on a non PSIP aware receiver.
Just tune to the carrier channel. For example, my PBS station is analog 11
and digital 47 remapped to 11-1 and 11-2. I can key in 47-1 for the former
and 47-2 for the latter if I want. PSIP aware receivers can lock up if tuned
to a channel with bad PSIP info in the stream though. A reboot will bring
things back then.

As far as no programming, that could be. The rumor I heard from a guy who
works for another station says they are transmitting audio and video but no
PSIP.

The manager of the station in question was nice enough but didn't say much
more than "we are sending out test signal at low power" (I get 90%+ signal
strength). He says they should be up and running in a year. Groan, a
year!

I am guessing the Fusion 3 must be PSIP aware because a couple stations ID
themselves with a name.

THANKS!
