Wondering if anyone in Manhattan apt. type enviornment is able to pick up
HDTV signal for local channels over the air with an indoor antenna. If so,
what antenna and what channels? Thanks.

Have you been to the AVS forum? There's a dedicated thread there for us NYC
area dwellers:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=275729

Some folks in Manhattan get good results, others bad. Not surprising....
And, if you've never been to the forum before, it's an excellent source of
*real-world* HDTV info.

I have a direct line of sight to the Empire State Building. It is
centered in our living room window and about 42 blocks South. We cannot
receive any channels in the living room but with a custom made (forget
the company) 51" yagi antenna stuck out the open window of our bedroom,
about 20 feet away, we get channels

TV2-1
TV5-1-2
TV4-1-2
TV40-1
TV 11-1-2 TV12-1 Same programming

Samsung T-151

No one watches it because someone moving or coming into or out of the
room kills the signal. Not so with a 100 Watt transmitter using COFDM
from 32 Ave of Americas at 25th floor. We could drive over all of lower
Manhattan, N. Jersey and parts of Queens with mobile reception. Big
difference.

Newer 8-VSB receivers are supposed to work better.

Oh, look, Bob is talking to himself again.

Really, Bob, none@none.net isn't all that imaginative. At least post from
something other than Earthlink on both accounts, to make it *look* like
it's not really you.

Not so excellent, they tend to delete stuff that does not agree with
their view of the world so there is a lot missing. They especially like
to delete foreign post of *real world* info.

For example try to find post that in any way say something good about
Sinclair Broadcasting. They let Mark Aitken from Sinclair post but they
do not let any positive responses to his post stick.

Sorry I have no idea who non@none.net is. Not me.

I only use aliases on AVSForum since they delete post and those that
post who disagree with them and let stand lies and misstatements that
they feel serves some purpose.
